Multisite observations of surface structures on AB Doradus in 1994 November
We present time-resolved optical spectroscopy and broad-band photometryof the rapidly rotating southern K0 dwarf star AB Doradus, obtainedduring 1994 November. The data were obtained as part of a collaborationdedicated to MUlti-SIte COntinuous Spectroscopy (MUSICOS), and entailedcoordinated observations on three continents to obtain the fullest phasecoverage possible subject to limitations of local weather conditions. The Doppler images from the three consecutive nights of the run showexcellent mutual agreement, with a dark polar cap and numerousintermediate- and low-latitude features. Simultaneous optical photometryshowed numerous short-duration U-band flares, and two longer durationoptical flares with durations of the order of hours. The latter producedbroad-band continuum enhancements throughout the optical spectrum. Wheresimultaneous spectroscopy was available, both types of flare were seento have counterparts in Hα and the Caii H line. Simultaneoustime-resolved ultraviolet spectroscopy from the Goddard High ResolutionSpectrograph (GHRS) aboard the Hubble Space Telescope, reportedelsewhere, shows that at least one of the short-duration U-band flareswas also observed in Civ with the GHRS. Time-series Hα spectrashowed significant evolution of the circumstellar prominence system overfive consecutive stellar rotations. One prominence underwent a dramaticincrease in distance from the stellar rotation axis. We speculate thatthis event may have been associated with one of the long-durationflares.

Vitesses radiales. Catalogue WEB: Wilson Evans Batten. Subtittle: Radial velocities: The Wilson-Evans-Batten catalogue.
We give a common version of the two catalogues of Mean Radial Velocitiesby Wilson (1963) and Evans (1978) to which we have added the catalogueof spectroscopic binary systems (Batten et al. 1989). For each star, when possible, we give: 1) an acronym to enter SIMBAD (Set ofIdentifications Measurements and Bibliography for Astronomical Data) ofthe CDS (Centre de Donnees Astronomiques de Strasbourg). 2) the numberHIC of the HIPPARCOS catalogue (Turon 1992). 3) the CCDM number(Catalogue des Composantes des etoiles Doubles et Multiples) byDommanget & Nys (1994). For the cluster stars, a precise study hasbeen done, on the identificator numbers. Numerous remarks point out theproblems we have had to deal with.

The Southern Vilnius Photometric System. III. Observations of E and F Harvard Standard Regions, 47 TUC and Some Metal-Deficient Stars
The results of photoelectric photometry in the Vilnius system of 101southern stars in the areas E1--E4, E8, E9 and F1 as well as of somemetal deficient stars are presented. Photometrically determined spectraltypes and luminosity classes of these stars are also given.

The distance and structure of the Coalsack. I - Photometric data
The results of UBV and H-beta photometry for 284 stars of spectral typesB to F located in the area of the dark cloud Coalsack are presented. Most of the present stars are brighter than 10.0 mag and are classifiedin the MK system of Houk and Cowley (1975). For each star, the bestvalues for the extinction and distance modulus are provided, withtypical estimated errors of + or - 0.08 mag for the extinction and + or- 0.32 mag for the distance modulus. Possible misclassifications andspectral peculiarities are noted for several of the stars.

Photometric zero-point stars in Magellanic cloud clusters
Photoelectric UBV measurements of faint stars in the Magellanic Cloudclusters NGC 339, NGC 458, NGC 2004, and NGC 2164, obtained with the1.5-m Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory in 1972 and 1973, arepresented. The present as-yet unpublished sample of stars range in Vbrightness from 15.2 to 18.0, and in (B-V) color from -0.20 to + 1.82.The data provide zero-point standards for use both in these clusters andin other clusters in the Magellanic Clouds.

Secondary standards for the Stromgren UVBY system
Observations of 158 E region stars have been made in the Stromgrensystem, using the 46-cm reflector at Cape Town. They are mostly brighterthan eighth magnitude and are intended for use as secondary standardsfor the four-color system. The E region relative zero points are definedwith a precision of + or - 0.001 mag, and the internal standard errorsof the colors life between + or - 0.001 and + or - 0.002 mag.

UBV photometry of E region standard stars of intermediate brightness
Photometry data are given for 335 stars in the nine E regions.Observations were made using a photometer and filters on the 47 cmreflector at Cape Town. The stellar dispersions are summarized. Data arepresented in tabular form.

H-beta photometry of northern intermediate galactic latitude early-type stars and galactic structure away from the plane
Photoelectric H-beta photometry is presented for 255 early-type stars atintermediate galactic latitudes. Absolute magnitudes and distances arederived for the more luminous stars. Those with visual magnitudes lessthan or equal to 2.5 and at distances of up to 1 kpc from the galacticplane may follow the spiral structure in the plane.
